Is It Necessary to Give Your Fiancé a Gift on Your Wedding Day?

There are so many choices at play when you plan your wedding day. You have to choose your venue, caterer, DJ, photographer, videographer, coordinator, decor….. The list literally goes on forever.

One question I often hear from brides planning their wedding day is: Is it necessary to get my fiancé a wedding day gift?

Short answer: No, it’s definitely not NECESSARY.

HOWEVER, I got my husband a gift on our wedding day and here are my 3 reasons why:

  1. I wanted to commemorate OUR day.

Couples spend anywhere from 6 months to 2+ years planning their wedding day. Once the special day finally arrives, it feels like it’s going a million miles per hour. I wanted us both to slow down, look around and feel the ambiance that was our wedding day.

  2. The gift I gave him was sentimental.

This wasn’t just a gift card to a coffee shop. I gave my husband a gift that summarized our relationship leading up to our wedding day. It brought a tear to his eye and I cherish that moment between us every day.

  3. I show appreciation through gift giving.

Everybody has their own love language. Personally, mine is gift giving. I wanted to show my husband exactly how much I loved him, and how excited I was to spend the rest of our lives together.

Wedding Day Gifts can be such a beautiful addition to your wedding day, whether they are necessary or not. The hard part is narrowing the gift down to one thing that you know they will cherish forever. Have you thought about what you are going to get your fiancé?
