How to Prepare for your Boudoir Session
I am planning my first Boudoir Marathon Session Day! This Boudoir Marathon Day will be held at the Curate Studio in Sauk Rapids, MN on Saturday, March 29th. The session will be approximately one hour and 45 minutes long. The first 45 minutes will be spent with Cassandra Jean, my lovely Hair and Make-Up Artist. Once you are done with the hair and make-up phase, you will spend the next hour with me while we create beautiful portraits that will forever freeze your beauty, self-confidence, and personality, for you to look back on through time.
This session allows for three outfit changes. (If you are worried about what to wear, then don’t fret! I have tips for you below). Five digital downloads are included in the booking fee of $399. Albums and other products are sold separately. Only 4 ladies will have the opportunity to work with us during this exciting new event, so book now before someone else takes your place!
Okay, now that we got the promotional material out of the way, I have already had clients reach out to me asking how to prepare for this shoot. It’s true, there are a few more steps to prepare for a boudoir shoot than an engagement session, but I will simplify it down to 5 steps!
1. Choose your 3 outfits and try them all on.
In terms of lingerie, it is more flattering and far more comfortable to wear something slightly loose fitting. A big self-love moment here, but clothes are meant to fit you, not the other way around. If it is too tight, you are going to feel discomfort and maybe even feel a little bad about yourself, and that will show in your photos. Let’s avoid this feeling all together and pick something you feel good in! Lingerie is not your only option though! Do you have a favorite pair of silk PJs in your closet? Or maybe an over-sized t-shirt and your favorite undies? Another cute option is a pair of jeans! The bottom line is that this session can be whatever you want it to be!
2. Moisturize your skin the week leading up to your session.
Unfortunately, dry skin can show up in your photos and can impact how make up shows up on your skin. While I love to moisturize daily, I realize this isn’t the reality for everyone. If it isn’t, try to moisturize every day for a week leading up to your session. You would be surprised how much of a difference this makes!
3. Shave at least two days prior to your session.
If you are prone to razor burn, please do not shave the morning of your session. If you allow a day or two for the burn to heal up, it won’t be too noticeable in your photos.
4. Please, please, PLEASE show up with DRY hair and a clean face.
The key here is to make sure your hair and face are clean and ready to go for your hair and make-up artist to get started in a timely manner. Your hair and make-up artist only has 45 minutes to work with you, and she will not be bringing a blow dryer.
5. Relax and have fun!
This session is all about celebrating you and making you feel your best!
I am beyond excited for this Boudoir Marathon Day. I believe the 5 tips above are a good baseline to help you prepare for your session. If you have any other questions, feel free to reach out to me!
